The Glacier Wolfpack girls basketball team used big performances by Aubrie Rademacher and Ellie Keller and a dominating defensive effort to claim a 44-34 Western AA victory over Missoula Hellgate on Thursday at Glacier High School.

Glacier trailed 24-20 at the half, but held Hellgate to nine points the rest of the way.

“It wasn’t that we weren’t disappointed in the first half defensively but we needed to be better,” Glacier coach Bill Sullivan said. “We talked about some things at halftime and did some things defensively they weren’t ready for. We did a good job closing the game.”

Rademacher scored 15 points and Eller a game-high 17.

“They do a pretty solid job,” Sullivan said of the duo. “Got to the free-throw line in the second, stayed patient offensively and ended up with the win.”

The Wolfpack had no free throws in the first half but made up for it the rest of the game. Keller sank 4 of 6 of her chances at the line and Rademacher went 3 for 4.

Rademacher also guarded Hellgate’s top scorer for most of the game, Bailee Sayler. Sayler was held to just three points.

Glacier only turned the ball over three times to Hellgate’s 13.

Emma Blakely led Hellgate (10-7 overall, 6-5 league) with 11 points and Addy Heaphy scored 10.

Glacier is firmly in third place in Western AA with a 11-6 overall record and 7-4 record in conference play.
