The charitable Brewster sisters Martha, played by Sierra Riley (pictured left) and Abby, played by Chris Breese, star in Wolfpack Theatre Co..’s production of “Arsenic and Old Lace.”

Madcap predicaments meet the macabre in Joseph Kesselring’s classic black comedy “Arsenic and Old Lace” presented by the Wolfpack Theatre Co. May 20, 22 and 23. Curtain time is 6:33 p.m. in the Wolfpack Theatre at Glacier High School.

Tickets are available at the Glacier High School Main Office and Photo Video Plus. Ticket prices are $7 for adults and $5 for children, students and senior citizens. Any remaining tickets will also be sold at the door.

“Arsenic and Old Lace,” one of the funniest comedies in modern theater, tells the tale of Abby and Martha Brewster who give toys to a local charity, make soup for the sick … and have 12 bodies buried in the cellar! These two lonely spinster sisters are devoted to charity and good deeds, but their latest charitable endeavor seems to have fatal consequences. On a mission of mercy, these two spinster aunts have taken to murdering lonely old men by poisoning them with a glass of homemade elderberry wine laced with arsenic, strychnine and “just a pinch” of cyanide.

“Arsenic and Old Lace” is just a zany, screwball comedy that is fun and doesn’t take itself too seriously,” Director Chris Adamcyk said. “While it’s not exactly your typical ‘family-friendly farce,’ I think the play is enjoyable for both older and newer generations alike.”

“Arsenic and Old Lace” is full of crazy characters, each with their own lovable peculiarities. Adding to the mix of unorthodox characters is Mortimer Brewster, a theater-hating drama critic who must deal with his crazy, homicidal family and a brother who believes he is Teddy Roosevelt digging locks for the Panama Canal in the cellar. Completing the crazy family is another brother, Jonathan, a murderous criminal on the lam and his companion, the strange Dr. Einstein, who arrive with the body of their latest victim.

As the last show of the school year for Wolfpack Theatre Co., Adamcyk selected this show with fun in mind.

“I wanted to put on a production that the cast and crew could have a lot of fun with and that the community would also enjoy,” he said. “We’ve put on a wide variety of plays this year and somehow it’s fitting to begin with “Frankenstein” and end with “Arsenic and Old Lace.”

The cast includes Chris Breese, Ammon Hill, Dresden Allred, Sydney Fletcher, Lauren Kohler, Sierra Riley, Taylor Dannic, Zach Hill, Victoria Kramer, Brooklyn Lamers, Ty Espeseth, Joe Schlegel, Ellie Haag and Asher Robinson.

Supporting the cast behind the scenes is the technical crew, including Kim Liles, Brooklyn Pitts, Nick Jaffe, Ashley Bruce, Hailey Anderson, Isaac Schroeder, Janaysa Amaker, Avrey Miele, Zach Lapke, James Wheeler, Mayleen Hoover and Landon Mumm.
