Vikings sophomore Traic Fainter battled his way to a fourth-place finish in the 103-pound division of the Class B/C State Wrestling Tournament in Billings over the weekend, picking up all four of his victories via fall.

Fainter needed just 41 seconds to pin Columbus wrestler Seth Kornick in the opening round, but fell to Cole Rogers of Three Forks in the quarterfinals.

Fainter bounced back by pinning Circle’s Ruben Nelson in 50 seconds in the consolation bracket before taking 2:42 to pin Whitehall’s Isaac Skogen.

Fainter pinned Eureka’s Blake Lancaster in 2:11 in the consolation semifinals before falling to Huntly Project’s Baylor Burton in the third-place match.

Seniors Vaughn Pendlay and sophomore Angus Anderson both went 2-2 at the meet to finish eighth in their weight classes while senior Ryder Nollan went 1-2.
