Bigfork tennis teams see action at home

The Vikes and Vals tennis teams were in action at home last week as the JV hosted Browning Friday while the varsity played matches against Loyola, Darby, Superior and Simms Saturday.

The Valkyries picked up two wins in 10 matches Saturday.

The doubles team of Tessa Troyer and Ashlyn McGill picked up a win over Superior’s Olivia Greuter and Ireland Heinrich 7-6, 6-2 while Maci Pickens took down Loyola’s Amalee Schneider in three sets, 6-2, 4-6, 7-5.

The Vikings picked up wins in two of their 14 matches Saturday as Andrew Wallen defeated Darby’s Taylor Graham 6-4, 6-0 and the doubles team of Dane and Cole Carlson took down Kaleb Sawyer and Casey Gorance of Simms, 7-5, 5-7, 10-8.

In other singles action for the Vikings, Landon Livingston fell to Darby’s Carden Nelson, 7-5, 6-3 and Sawyer of Simms, 5-7, 5-7.

Juan Childs fell to Loyola’s Alex Jasperson, 0-6, 0-6, Darby’s Graham 1-6, 2-6 and Gorance of Simms, 1-6, 0-6.

Malachi Comly fell to Matthew Camp of Loyola, 3-6, 3-6 in one match and 4-6, 3-6 in a rematch.

Seth Christians fell to Darby’s Clay Rouse 2-6, 1-6 and Wallen lost a tight match against Jasperson of Loyola, 6-3, 4-6, 5-10.

In other doubles action, Carlson and Carlson fell to Declan Harrington and Brenden Nedrud of Loyla 3-6, 2-6.

The same Loyola duo defeated Christians and Dylan Porrovecchio 6-2, 6-7, 7-10. Christians and Porrovecchio also fell to Loyola’s Carter Topp and Joe Kisehennman, 1-6, 0-6.

In other action for the Valkyries, Abbu Pilskalns fell to Superior’s Perri Jasper, 3-6, 2-6 and Schneider of Loyola, 1-6, 4-6.

Jade Sisler fell to Superior’s Trina Azure in three sets, 3-6, 6-2, 0-6 and also went to three sets before falling to Darraya Peterson of Simms, 3-6, 6-1, 0-6.

Anika Ranson fell to Alex Baranko of Simms, 2-6, 2-6 and Superior’s Lanie Crabb, 1-6, 0-6 and Pickens fell to Loyola’s Sylvie VonDoersten, 2-6, 1-6.

In doubles action, Troyer and McGill fell to Laura and Kaylee Zietzke of Simms, 0-2, 2-6.
