The Bigfork baseball team made a powerful statement to open April, delivering two dominant shutout victories over Noxon and Troy.

The Vikings overwhelmed visiting Noxon 15-0 on Monday, April 7, wrapping up the league contest in just four innings thanks to an explosive offensive performance and a combined one-hit shutout by pitchers Ryan Rodriguez and Grady Campbell.

Rodriguez opened the game on the mound, tossing 1 2/3 innings of no-hit ball, striking out two and working around three walks. Campbell followed and shut the door with 2 1/3 innings, allowing just one hit and striking out five.

Offensively, Bigfork put up crooked numbers in every inning. The third frame proved especially productive with six runs scored. Hayden Mayer led the charge with a 1-for-2 effort, driving in three runs and lacing a double. Campbell, Liam Benson, and Sam Plummer each drove in two runs, while Rodriguez and Mason Lewis added to the RBI tally. Plummer finished 1-for-1 at the plate, while Campbell and Benson each went 1-for-1. Bigfork also capitalized on seven Noxon.

Two days earlier, on Saturday, the Vikings put together an even more emphatic performance in Troy, routing the Trojans 18-0 in three innings.

Bigfork erupted for 15 runs in the second inning alone, turning a 2-0 start into a blowout. Sam Plummer starred at the plate, going 3-for-3 with three RBIs and a double. Cavin Wiest matched Plummer’s RBI total with a 3-for-3 day of his own, while Mayer again delivered three RBIs on a 1-for-2 performance. Jantzen added three RBIs and a hit, while Benson, Rodriguez, Hamilton, and Lewis also contributed to the scoring barrage.

The Vikings pounded out 10 hits as a team and committed no errors in the field. On the mound, Liam Benson was sharp in the start, throwing two innings, giving up two hits and no runs while striking out three. Holland Jantzen came on in relief to pitch a clean third, striking out three more and allowing only one hit.

In two games, Bigfork outscored its opponents 33-0, allowed just four hits, and struck out 16 opposing batters. The Vikings also committed just one error across both contests. They are now 3-1 on the season.
