WAEA says thanks

| August 4, 2004 11:00 PM

To the editor,

On behalf of the Columbia Falls Wildcat Athletic Endowment Association Board of Directors, thank you for lending a hand and opening your wallet to make last weekend's fundraising events such an enormous success.

Approximately $3,000 was earned with the fourth annual WAEA Golf Tourney. We netted $2,000 with Mick Washburn's barbecue, and $24,000 was raised at the second annual Endowment Auction. So $29,000 will be added to your endowment this year, bringing the grand total to $103,000. As you know, this amount stays intact, and only the interest earned will be invested in our athletic programs.

The WAEA board is truly humbled by the overwhelming community support of these endowment fundraisers. Thank-you notes are on the way to a substantial list of volunteers, sponsors and participants who each helped to reach this year's target. We all look forward to continuing this worthwhile tradition.

Special thanks to Jim Porteus and Karl Skindingsrude for contributing so much to the extraordinary success of our auction, Randy Bocksnick for photographing the Columbia Fall High School's '83 Girls State Basketball Champs, and Mick Washburn for organizing the terrific barbecue.

I'd also like to personally thank our family of board members —Kim Cheff, Steve Melby, Shannon Trinastich, Doug Cordier, Michelle Goodman and Jana Fields—for their endless enthusiasm, selfless investment of time and unbelievable passion for the Wildcat Athletic Endowment Association.

Go Wildcats.

Jim Thompson, board president
