Fall kick-off

The Columbia Falls Booster Club will hold its annual fall kick-off barbecue at 5 p.m. Aug. 23 with the introduction of teams and volleyball scrimmage at 7 p.m. Cat/Paw painting is Aug. 19 at 6 p.m.

50th reunion news

Patton contestant

Kari Moran-Patton is a contestant at the Little Miss Rodeo competition at the Northwest Montana Fair. Kari has been rodeoing for the past five years and this will be her first year as a Flathead Valley High School Rodeo Team member. She will be a freshman at Columbia Falls High School. She barrel races, goat ties, pole bends, team ropes and break away ropes. This is Kari's third year running for the title, and she was named Miss Congeniality. She is the daughter of Fred and Carol Moran-Patton.

Prospectors meet

McDaniel graduates

Navy Seaman Jenny McDaniel, sister of Laura B. Aasheim, of Columbia Falls, recently graduated from Naval basic training in Great Lakes, Ill. McDaniel is a 1992 graduate of Flathead High School.

Unsung festival

The Unsung Festival to benefit the Samaritan House is scheduled for Sept. 11 and Sept. 12 at the Rocky Mountain Roadhouse in Ferndale. Admission is a donation or non-perishable food item. There will be music, dancing, arts and crafts, an auction and a raffle. Music is still needed. Call 883-1200, 837-1041 or 752-2654 for more information.

Dean's list

Jacob Forke was named to the spring dean's list at Concordia University. Forke, of Columbia Falls, is a senior studying biology.

School fashions

The Columbia Falls Women's Connection will meet at 9:30 a.m. Aug. 17 at the North Valley Community Building. Topic is back-to-school fashions. Cost is $7 per person, for brunch. Call 892-5215 for more info.

Practice schedules

Practice for girls soccer starts Aug. 16 from 7:30 to 9 .a.m. and from 4 to 6 p.m. Boys are 9 to 11 a.m. and 2 to 4 p.m.

Sellars top rookie

Whisper Sellars' name was inadvertently left out of the swim team's results at the state meet in last week's edition. Sellars finished third in the 100-meter freestyle event, sixth in the 100-meter I.M. relay, and 14th in the 50-meter backstroke. She was also voted Rookie of the Year.
