Rebecca "Becky" Trablik, 77, of Kalispell, passed away Aug. 9, 2004, at Brendan House in Kalispell.

She was born Nov. 16, 1926, in Goodland, Kan., the daughter of George and Mary Edmonds Mayer. She grew up in the heart of the Dust Bowl during the Great Depression. Music was always her heart and soul. She was educated in Kansas and graduated from Brownville, Kan., High School. She attended and graduated from Fort Hays State College in Hays, Kan., in 1944 with a bachelor's in music.

In September 1948, she was united in marriage to Phillip E. Trablik, in Kansas. They moved to Kalispell in 1953, settling in the Mountain Brook community.

Becky taught orchestra at Flathead County High School, band and sixth grade in Somers, and high school band in Bigfork. She taught grade school at Mountain Brook for 16 years. She followed that with band and first grade at Fair-Mont-Egan for the next 10 years, finishing with a 14-year stint teaching at the Nazarene Christian Academy. She finally semi-retired in 1995.

Throughout her life and career she taught many of the valley children the pleasures of music by providing private instruction in piano as well as virtually any other instrument of interest. She was very active in her church, First Baptist Church in Columbia Falls, generally playing either the piano or organ weekly. Another of her great joys was crocheting.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Phillip, in November 1993.

She is survived by her brother, Paul, of Theodosia, Mo., and numerous friends.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 12, 2004 (today) at the First Baptist Church in Columbia Falls. Burial will follow at C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery in Kalispell.
