Glacier plates thanks

| August 26, 2004 11:00 PM

The Glacier Fund recently received information from the Montana State Department of Motor Vehicles regarding the top ten selling specialty license plates. We were very pleased to find out that The Glacier Plate is currently the second best selling plate in Montana.

On behalf of Glacier National Park and The Glacier Fund Board of Trustees, I want to thank everyone who has purchased the beautiful Lake McDonald license plate. Because the plates have been so successful, the proceeds have helped fund over $550,000 in projects in 2003 and 2004. They include the rehabilitation of Avalanche and Iceberg Lake trails and restoration of Avalanche Gorge, upgrading bear management equipment, purchasing portable automatic external defibrillators, constructing an observation blind at Lower McDonald Creek, a Harlequin Duck banding project, new digital projection equipment for the St. Mary Visitor Center, bear-proof food storage lockers in front country campgrounds, rehabilitating the rock walls on Ptarmigan Tunnel and Swiftcurrent Pass trails, An inventory of the park's historic artwork, purchasing a fleet of red bikes for Glacier Park employees, constructing an exotic fish Barrier in the Quartz Lake drainage, funding of song bird distribution study.

The sale of license plates has greatly enhanced our ability to fund needed projects that protect the cultural and natural resources of Glacier National Park that will benefit visitors for generations to come.

Thank you for your support. If you need more information, contact us at P.O. Box 14, West Glacier, MT 59936 888-7910 or visit our web site at www.glacierfund.org

I hope you have the opportunity to visit Glacier National Park this year. The flowers have been spectacular!
