Luella E. Gnauck, 83, of Whitefish, went to be with her Lord on Monday, Sept. 27, 2004, at the Immanuel Lutheran Home in Kalispell.

She was born March 2, 1921, in New Jersey, to Luella and William Applegate. She attended secretarial school in New York City and worked there during World War II until her marriage to Otto H. Gnauck in 1949.

They were members of the Westwood Reformed Church in New Jersey and raised four children in that community.

The couple retired to New Mexico and lived there until Otto's death in 1984. She then lived with her daughter's family in Colorado until moving to Whitefish in 1988.

She enjoyed knitting, sewing, and other needlework. She attended the First Presbyterian Church in Whitefish.

She is survived locally by her son, Peter Gnauck, a son, David Gnauck in Volcano, Hawaii, a son, Alan Gnauck in Middletown, N.J.; a daughter, Elaine Scully in Earlysville, Va.; and four grandchildren.

She loved her family well and will be greatly missed by them.

No services are planned.
