Clinic canceled

The Thursday Coram immunization clinic at the Canyon Community Church for Oct. 21 is canceled. The regular clinic, which runs from 2 to 4 p.m., will be held Nov. 18.

Harvest party

Family harvest party takes place Saturday, Oct. 24, at North Valley Senior Center. Potluck dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m. with bingo and prizes as evening's entertainment. Those attending are asked to wear costumes, but it is not required. More details may be obtained from Roxy Larsen, Center manager.

Gedlaman on diets

Dr. Derek Gedlaman will present a program entitled "Low Carb Diets … Are They Safe?" at 7 p.m. tonight, Oct. 21, at the North Valley Hospital Community Center in Columbia Falls. The answers and latest research may surprise you. This is a free program sponsored by North Valley Hospital. For more information, call 863-3630.

Davis student of week

Bronson Davis, a freshman at Columbia Falls High School, has been selected Student of the Week for the week of Oct. 18 to Oct. 22. He was nominated because he tries his best, is friendly and cooperative, supports other students, and has made a tremendous adaptation from junior high school to senior high school. Davis is the son of John and Terri Davis, of Coram, and receives a personal pan pizza compliment of Pizza Hut.

Benefit dinner

A benefit dinner with a pot luck, raffle and karaoke for Ron and Mary Sullens will be held starting at 2 p.m. with dinner at 4 p.m. at the Middle Fork QRU building in Essex. The Sullens lost their business, the Half-Way House, to fire earlier this month, and the community is rallying to rebuild the business. Donations can be made to First Citizens Bank in Columbia Falls, or if you have building materials to donate you can call 888-5650.

Self-defense event

A benefit and self-defense event for children and a benefit for St. Jude's Children's Hospital will take place at the Whitefish Mall Oct. 23. The event is put on by the American Karate Academy and features several classes for youngsters about stranger awareness, bullying and self defense. Event is free and starts at 10 a.m.

Blair graduates

Katherine Blair, of Columbia Falls, recently received her bachelor's degree in psychology from Eastern Washington University.

Sun Road talk

Glacier National Park will host a workshop and public discussion on the Going-to-the-Sun Road reconstruction plan and intelligent transportation systems to control traffic during the rehab. A meeting is scheduled for 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the West Coast Center Hotel in Kalispell on Oct. 27. Folks are encouraged to attend.
