We Must Move Forward Together

Friends, Montana needs you. A new path is upon us. I ask you to have faith, trust and work hard to cultivate common ground. Our community can demonstrate how to get things done. There is much good around and many opportunities ahead.

We must decide what we want for our families, our State and our future. Do we believe in a better way, or more of the same? The House District 4 race is not about me or my opponent, but rather, Montana. House leadership hangs in the balance.

The GOP has had sole control of Montana's policy for a decade. Monopolies in the public sector do not work any better than they do in the private sector. For the sake of Montana, please give the GOP a couple of year's rest. Entrenched, old-guard leadership must retire. Only a Democrat from Whitefish can do that for our State.

My father, a retired Republican merchant marine taught me the value of family, honor and respect. My mom, a Democrat taught me to work hard for my community. My uncle, a Mormon bishop, teaches faith. Another uncle was a commercial fisherman who taught me to get up early and plan on uncertain and hard work. I am an independent-minded Democrat. I believe in people.

Nearly 400 individuals contributed to our campaign to keep Whitefish a great community. Thanks to Whitefish Republicans, Democrats and Independents, we continue to run a campaign free of policy-peddling PAC dollars.

I ask for your vote. I will provide independent-minded leadership that listens. I will work to keep our public land public, lower taxes, invest in our local businesses, fund our schools, and make health insurance, health care and housing more affordable.

Our growth here in the Flathead is directly tied to our friendly business atmosphere and great quality of life. We are still a safe, healthy and prosperous community.

I share your passion for the great outdoors. The ability to hunt, fish and recreate are vital to our economy, and attracting new business. The great outdoors truly is an asset.

In recent years, we have begun to see achievements in housing opportunities for our workers. We have much work to do. I do not pretend to know all the answers but have learned how to help move the dialog forward.

I fought for a community-driven plan to keep our public lands public and increase funding for our local schools, to keep our economy strong. Our families need to keep more of their hard earned income. They deserve clean water, open public lands and a community with opportunity and great quality of life.

Local business needs a stable government with access to capital. They need for us to fund our schools and provide options for insurance. Affordable health insurance, health care and medicine must be available for our local families and small businesses. Families and small business should have the choice to access the same health plans that are available to their politicians.

I thank you for the confidence you have given to me and my family. I commit to being responsive, to listen and to work hard for the sake of our families. Join me in a government of the people, by the people, and for the people - a forgotten dawn in Montana.

Friends, I ask you to have faith, trust and work hard to cultivate common ground. I'm a farmer working with Republican and Independents alike to keep Whitefish a safe, healthy and prosperous community to raise a family, grow a small business and retire.
