Perverted, twisted minds
To the editor,
No civilized society wants war. However, war is sometimes necessary.
Think back to World War II and the thousands who sacrificed their lives and tore their families apart to protect the rest of us. They were so brave, patriotic and willing to go to war.
My brother was too young to enlist. He told our parents if they wouldn't sign for him, he would lie about his age and go anyway —just one of many who did the same thing. They had so much character and depth of understanding of what was at stake.
For many years, Muslim terrorists have attacked our barracks, embassies, ships, planes and, in 1993, the World Trade Center. Our response to each attack was lukewarm, if at all.
In 2001, Muslim terrorists hijacked passenger planes, flew them into buildings, killing 3,000 innocent Americans. This time we didn't look the other way.
In Russia, armed militants took babies and young children hostage in a school, deprived them of food and water for days, then shot them or blew them up when they tried to run away.
This is the same evil mind set of the uncivilized, barbaric, sub-human monsters we are fighting in Iraq. There are no rules for humanitarian decency. In their perverted, twisted minds, anyone who is not a Muslim is an infidel, and Allah demands infidels must be killed. Some in America and other countries are blind to the danger we face.
Records show that France, Germany, Russia and some in the United Nations were stealing money from the "Food for Oil" program at the expense of poor Iraqi citizens. Who cares if these criminals approve of any action we take to protect ourselves?
We will fight terrorism overseas or in the streets of America. Will we be another Israel, whose sons and daughters are murdered almost daily?
Think hard about whom your protests aid and comfort.
