Miraculous survival

| September 29, 2004 11:00 PM

This week, we present readers with what amounts to a front-page correction. Last week, we said that all five people on a Forest Service plane died in a fiery crash. That, obviously, wasn't the case. Two survivors were found just a few hours after the Hungry Horse News went to press on Wednesday.

We're saddened by the loss of three people on that plane. We're also overjoyed, as everyone is, to report that two survived against overwhelming odds.

Some have blamed the Flathead County Sheriff's Department for saying too soon that everyone had perished.

But the law enforcement folks who first looked at that crash have been to many crashes in their lives, and this one looked to be what it was: Unsurvivable. How Jodee Hogg and Matt Ramige survived truly is miraculous.

We see no blame in this story, only divine intervention.
