Deer Park Baseball Association's 39th Annual Barbecue and Auction takes place April 23 at the Silver Bullet Bar, on Highway 206. There is a barbecued hog with all the fixings served at 4 p.m., and the auction fun will begin at 7 p.m. There are lots of donated merchandise and great raffle prizes. Trout Unlimited

The Flathead Valley Chapter of Trout Unlimited will feature MSU graduate student Andy Dux at the April 19 general membership meeting at 7:30 p.m. at the Bohemian Grange Hall, 125 Blanchard Lake Road, south of Whitefish behind Montana Coffee Traders.

Swim team

The swim team will have its sign-ups May 1 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the North Valley Community Center. Call Ron Newton at 387-5024 or Cindi Woods at 387-5648. Season runs from June 1 to July 31.

Valleyaires show

The Flathead Valleyaires Barbershop Chorus will have a show at the Flathead High School Auditorium on April 23 at 7:30 p.m. Cost is $9 in advance, $10 at the door. Call 892-5953.

Christian women

Halfway benefit

A benefit to rebuild the Halfway House in Essex takes place April 16 at 4 p.m. with a potluck at the Middle Fork QRU building. There will also be a raffle and other fund-raisers. Call 888-5562 for more information.

Baseball help

Columbia Falls Baseball is looking for someone to run the concession stand. Also, umpires are needed as well. Call Tina Piper on the stand at 892-2585 and for umpires call 892-2129.

Women's soccer

Women interested in playing summer soccer on Thursdays from 6 to 7:30 p.m. with games Tuesdays and Thursdays can call Alyson Dorr at 250-2461 or just go to practice at Horine Field on Thursday at 6 p.m.

Softball camp

A softball camp for girls takes place April 16 at the Columbia Falls fields. For girls grades K-4, it's 9 a.m. to noon, and for girls grades 5-8, it's 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Bring a glove and weather gear. Questions? Call 892-1162 or 892-1378.

Student of the week

Emily Emmert a junior at Columbia Falls High School has been selected student of the week for the week of April 11. She was nominated because she is happy to help whenever she can and is always cheerful and very dependable. Emily is the daughter of Randy and Melody Emmert of Columbia Falls and receives a personal pan pizza compliments of Pizza Hut.
