Josephine Marie (Knudson) Gregg

Josephine Marie (Knudson) Gregg, 91, formerly of Kalispell, passed away, Sunday, January 23, 2005, in Great Falls.

A memorial service will be held at Bigfork Masonic Temple on Sunday, April 17, at 1 p.m. Cremation has taken place. Private interment of ashes will follow at a later date. Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Josephine is survived by two nephews, George Kain of Spokane, Wash., and Jim Kain of Phoenix, Ariz., eight step grandchildren, Gregg Rydquist of Great Falls, Jody Chambers of Spokane, Wash., Dennis Rydquist and Susan Meredith both of Edmonds, Wash., David Rydquist of Rapid City, S.D., Jennifer Loustelet of Concord, Calif., Shelby Gregg of Seattle, and Bob Lang of Maui; and numerous great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Josephine was born June 9, 1913, the last of 12 children born to Carl and Clara Knudson. Her mother and the children homesteaded at Cohagen, Mont., in 1915.

Josephine graduated from Helena High School District in 1931. She worked for many years as a secretary for the Helena High School District. During World War II, she worked as an auditor for the Army Air Corp in Seattle.

She was married to William H. Gregg for 48 years. They farmed and made their home in Creston. She was a member of Eastern Star for more than 70 years. Josephine was preceded in death by her siblings, husband and stepchildren James Gregg and Marceley Rydquist.
