It's Winter Carnival time and the opinion of the Pilot is that everyone should get out and have a good time. After over 44 years as a way to break up the winter blahs, the Carnival is also a way to get involved in the community. Whether that is working as a volunteer beforehand, participating in the parade or disco dancing at the Dire Wolf, the Carnival is one of the season's big events.

After researching the history of the carnival, there is one event that seems to have sadly fallen by the wayside - the Winter Carnival Ball, where Whitefish ladies donned formal dresses and the men dressed to the nines. Whitefish occasions where you can add a little glamour are few and far between and this staff is advocating to the return of the flash, flounce and flair that those carnival balls brought.

Something to think about for next year's celebration. Enjoy!
