Robert Hilt

Robert Patrick Hilt, 58, of Fairfield died Jan.11 at his home in Fairfield from complications of diabetes.

Robert was born Dec. 12, 1946, in Great Falls, the son of Cyril and Florence "Pat" (Dors) Hilt. He graduated from Fairfield High School and was pursuing a teaching degree at the University of Great Falls.

Robert served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam era, and right after the service, from 1967 to 1970, he worked for the Forest Service, the State of Montana and Dan Worley as a guide and outfitter. In 1971, he attended Farrier School and continued shoeing, leather working and making saddles and harnesses and restoring wagons until is death.

Robert enjoyed his summertime camp cooking at camps for the disadvantaged children, and he also enjoyed working with horses.

He was preceded in death by his father, Cyril Hilt, and a brother, Bill Hilt.

He is survived by his mother, Florence "Pat" Hilt, of Choteau, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral Mass was held Jan. 17, 2005, at St. John's Catholic Church in Fairfield. Interment with military honors was in the Sunset Hills Cemetery in Fairfield.

Memorials are suggested to the Flathead Community College.

Charles Huseby

Charles "Chuck" Gordon Huseby, 71, died Jan. 11, 2005, at Kalispell Regional Medical Center in Kalispell.

He was born March 14, 1933, in St. Maries, Idaho, to Gordon and Audrey (Armstrong) Huseby.

He was a veteran of the Korean War. He married Betty Thiele in Las Vegas on Sept. 15, 1977. They lived in Spokane for 10 years before moving to the Flathead Valley in 2000, and lived in Columbia Falls until a few months ago when they moved to Kalispell. He was a master electrician by trade.

Charles enjoyed wood working, gardening, crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles. He loved the Mariners.

He was a beloved husband, brother, father and grandfather. He will be missed by all.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law Virgil Phelps, and mother- and father-in law, Art and Helen Thiele.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Betty Huseby, of Kalispell; four daughters, Polli Huseby, of Agana, Guam, Lori Shue and husband, Frank, of Phoenix, Dara Battista and husband, Jim, of Carmichael, Calif., and Elaine Christian and husband, Steve, of Tucson; four sons, Larry Skiles and wife, Carol, of Dillon, Robert Skiles and wife, Doris, of Seeley Lake, Dan Skiles and wife, Fay, of Kalispell, and Lewis Skiles and wife, Susan, of Vancouver, Wash.; two sisters, Mary Hawke, of White Lake, Mich., and Ginger Goslar, of Chandler, Ariz.; brother-in-law Dude Thiele and wife, Leola; sister-in-law Bernice Kuehne; special cousins Iris Kalay and Gerry Hildebant; 22 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, along with Sassy and Baby.

A memorial gathering with family and friends took place Jan. 16, 2005, in Kalispell.

The family suggests memorials be given to the Hospice, Home Health Options, 175 Commons Loop, Suite 100, Kalispell MT 59901.

Donald McIntyre

Donald Ray McIntyre, 61, passed away on Jan. 11, 2005, at his residence northwest of Kalispell.

He was born Oct. 3, 1943, in Kalispell to Warren McIntyre and Roberta (Bartel, McIntyre, Shelley). Don received his early education in Kalispell, graduating from Flathead High School.

He then served an honorable mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in southern California. After his return, he attended Brigham Young University where he studied business management and finance. During this time, he met Carolyn Irene Mitchell, and they were married Feb. 24, 1967, in the Salt Lake City Temple. To this union were born five children.

The couple moved back to the Flathead where, after a few assorted jobs, Don began work at the Columbia Falls aluminum plant. He spent the next 30 years there before retiring. During his time at the plant, he also owned and operated Chuck Wagon Distributing.

Don's many hobbies included woodworking, fishing, collecting coins, outdoor activities and playing the trumpet and trombone.

Don was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn; his biological father, Warren; and the father that raised him, Herbert Shelley.

He is survived by three daughters, LaDawn McIntyre and husband, Thor Shenkel, Cheri DeMott and husband, Mike, and Sarah Elrod and husband, Duane; two sons, Shane McIntyre and Benjamin McIntyre; his mother, Roberta Shelley; half-sister Lilly Wainwright; half-brother Herbert Shelley Jr.; stepsister Pat Shelley; stepbrothers Joe Shelley and Steve Shelley; three grandchildren, Mitchell, Andrew and Jacen; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Jan. 15, 2005, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Whitefish Stage Road, with Bishop Mark Hudson conducting. Burial followed at Glacier Memorial Gardens.
