'Hostility' comment unfounded

I read with great interest the article in last Wednesday's paper on the upcoming election for the city judge position in Whitefish.

I was completely shocked at the statement Ms. Valarie Eve made saying she only worked as clerk of court for a year and a half due to the "hostile atmosphere" between her and Judge Brad Johnson.

I worked for Judge Johnson for 11 1/2 years as clerk of court and the last few years as both clerk of court and sub-judge. I had never worked with any law agency in my life before. There was never any "hostility" or discord in our working atmosphere.

Judge Johnson was always very kind and patient, explaining the court process, the law, and how our office of the court worked. He also taught me how to deal with the people we dealt with everyday.

Judge Johnson was always calm, caring and compassionate.

In my opinion, Judge Johnson had an uncanny way of smoothing out any problems that would occasionally arise with other departments of the city that we worked with. He never raised his voice and there was never any "hostility" felt during or after whatever the disagreement. So I guess I am puzzled as to who and when the "hostile atmosphere" developed.

As long as I have known Judge Johnson, he has always been totally honest and straight as an arrow on all issues. A better person you couldn't hope for as judge of Whitefish.

I hope you all vote for him.
