In appreciation

| June 23, 2005 11:00 PM

To all who have given of their money, time, effort knowledge and skills, a heart-felt thank you from the president of Bigfork Youth Baseball. Over the past three years, we have seen a large increase in the "off-the-field help." For those who show up to the field clean-up day in early spring, help with fund-raisers, participate in the opening day ceremonies, donate use of equipment, prepare the fields before games and clean up after games. Closing day ceremonies this year was a particularly successful event. It was our annual picnic and raffle drawing. Volunteers set up tents, table, chairs and food for 300 plus attendees in an hour and a half. Even more impressive was the tear down in 37 minutes! With this type of help, it allows the managers and coaches time to work directly with the kids and concentrate on teaching them the great game of baseball.

To all of the managers and coaches, great job this year. Your time and effort is greatly appreciated. From Tee Ball wrangler to Senior Babe Ruth and all in between, your love of the game and passion for teaching does make a difference in the quality of experience for the kids. Always remember, it is a game. The goal of the game is to win, but the reason for playing the game is to have fun.

Bigfork Youth Baseball has the lowest registration fees in the Valley. That is due to the generous support of corporate and private sponsors. You help give 200 kids the chance to enjoy the Great American Pastime. Some have been giving as much as $500 per year for well over 10 years. Others are giving all they can. But all together you are the financial backbone of our community athletic programs and your gifts are truly appreciated.

In 2006, under the capable guidance of new president James Lafontaine, the league will continue to grow. Two of our short-term goals are to put more teams on the field (possibly a Rookie division of 7-8 year olds) and to provide more on field-help with a regular pool of paid umpires for all Sr. Babe Ruth, Babe Ruth and Major league games. We are confident that again the community will come through.

Thank you again for all who have made the 2005 baseball season a success for the kids of Bigfork.

Joe Bell

President 2004-05
