Stanley Dye
Stanley Lee Dye died Sunday, June 19, 2005, at the Edgewood Vista residence in Kalispell.
He was born in Picher, Okla., on Feb. 4, 1921, the son of Loren Ellis and Mary Frances Dye. He married Lucille R. Morgan, of Anaconda, in Spokane, Wash., on Oct. 4, 1941.
Stanley served in the Civilian Conservation Corps during the 1930s in western Wyoming. He served in the Philippines in the Army during World War II as a warrant officer in the Signal Corps. He was employed for many years with the Graybar Electric Co. as a branch manager and national sales manager. He lived in Billings, Butte, Seattle, Portland, Stamford, Conn., Atlanta, Ga. and St. Davids, Penn. during his years with Graybar. He retired to Whitefish in 1975.
After retirement Stanley served as a Small Business Administration counselor and on local governmental boards. He was a lifelong Mason from 1943, with additional membership in the Scottish Rite and Mystic Shrine of North America. He was an avid golfer, member of the Whitefish Country Club, fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed hiking and cross-country skiing.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille.
He is survived by two daughters, Sarah (nee Sandra) Oscarson and husband Eric, of Kennewick, Wash., and Paula (Stuart) Barb, of Elkhart, Ind.; grandchildren Jennifer (Tim) Atkins, of Rossford, Ohio, Matthew (Cathy) Barb, of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Adam Barb, of Durham, N.C.; and great grandchildren Andrew and Peter Atkins, and Alexander and Aubrey Barb.
A memorial service was held at the First Presbyterian Church in Whitefish on June 25, 2005.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial donations to the First Presbyterian Church or the North Valley Food Bank.
