Byron Kiser

Byron Elton Kiser, 44, of Columbia Falls, died in his sleep Sunday, March 6, 2005, at his Kalispell home due to complications of the flu and three car accidents.

Byron was born Feb. 12, 1961, in Kalispell, and he attended schools in Columbia Falls and Anaconda. He has worked as a journeyman painter for 25 years here and one year in Hawaii. He was a dedicated meticulous painter, and everyone who knew him appreciated his good work.

Byron was married to Libby Leigh Stiger on Aug. 1, 2001, and they have one son, Robert.

Byron loved his family and friends and his animals. He always admired his grandfather, Robert Casady, who was also a painter and chose to follow in his footsteps. Byron was a generous person and willing to help anyone in need. He and a friend once hitchhiked to Florida to see the space center. He enjoyed camping and being in the great outdoors.

Byron was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Ruby Casady, of Kalispell, and Elmer and Ruth Kiser; one niece, Jessica Masa; and one nephew, Jason Kiser, of Columbia Falls.

He is survived by his wife Libby; his son Robert; a sister, Rhonda L (Kiser) Smith, and son Zeke Smith, of Bemidji, Minn.; a brother, Steve, and his wife Annette and their four children, Adam, Phillip, Robyn and Robert, of St. George, Utah; another brother, Vernon Kiser, and his children, Tyler and Brittany; a sister, Rubianna (Kiser) Masa, and her husband Paul Masa and their three daughters, Rebecca, Ariana and Kierra; and his parents, Phil and Louise Kiser, all of Columbia Falls; and many cousins, aunts and uncles.

Funeral service will take place Saturday, March 12, 2005, at 1 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1780 Talbott Road, in Columbia Falls. Following the memorial services, a dinner will be held for all friends and family at the church.

Edward Schultz

Edward G. Schultz, 84, a Flathead Valley resident and retired saw filer in the logging industry, died of natural causes Feb. 12, 2005. He had been a resident at the Montana Veterans Home in Columbia Falls since 2003, after suffering a debilitating brain hemorrhage.

Edward was born March 8, 1920, in Kalispell to Gustav and Natalia (Kienas) Schultz. He grew up on the family farm in Smith Valley and attended Boorman School.

In April 1942, he joined the U.S. Army, served in the Pacific Theater during World War II, and was honorably discharged in October 1945.

He married Edith Lien on Nov. 4, 1945, in Kalispell. They had two children, Janice and Gary. The family resided in Smith Valley until 1964 when they moved to Columbia Falls.

Edward worked for the Somers Mill, Rex Brown's mill in Coram during the construction of Hungry Horse Dam, the Kalispell Lumber Co., the Rocky Mountain Timber Co. and retired from Louisiana Pacific in 1986.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Herman and Otto; and his sister Adeline.

He is survived by his wife and children, all of Columbia Falls; his sister Margaret Howard and her husband, Donald; and several nieces and nephews.

He is much loved and fondly remembered.
