The Other Side of Marc Racicot

| May 5, 2005 11:00 PM

I was amused by the recent letters to several papers from former governor Marc Racicot in regards to the Patriot Act. He defends it and supports its renewal and condemns the Montana legislature for passing a resolution against it. This begs a few questions: How much is the Bush administration paying him to do this and why should we trust this man?

This is the same Marc Racicot who deregulated the power industry in Montana.

This is the same Marc Racicot who supported Judy Martz as his replacement.

This is the same Marc Racicot who raised the limits on toxins and carcinogens dumped into Montana waters.

This is the same Marc Racicot who cost the state 50 million dollars on a computer system that still doesn't work.

This is the same Marc Racicot who worked for Enron even after he was appointed head of the RNC and it was obvious what Enron was doing.

This is the same Marc Racicot who wanted to privatize the state's mental health services and it ended up in a financial disaster.

This is the same Marc Racicot who turned his back on his hometown of Libby when he was very aware of what was going on there.

Look for letters soon from Marc on how well the war in Iraq is going and how we should privatize Social Security.

Sincerely,

Peter Chapman
