Martin White

Martin "Marty" Vernon White, 61, of Whitefish, died May 2, 2005, as a result of a plane accident near Mount Aeneas in the Jewel Basin area of Northwestern Montana.

Marty was born Sept. 4, 1943, in Pasadena, Calif. He attended the University of Southern California, graduating with a degree as a doctor of surgical dentistry in 1968. He operated a successful dental practice in San Diego for many years before moving briefly to Sand Point, Idaho, and then on to Whitefish, where he and his wife Penny enjoyed living for 13 yeas

Marty was a great athlete, participating in track and football in high school. He loved the outdoors, growing up camping in Yosemite, trekking in Nepal, traveling and flying and refining his seasonal love for golf and skiing.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Peggy Roldan, and father, Vernon.

He is survived by his mother, Rosemary White, of Whitefish; his two sons, Andrew Martin White and his wife, Krista, of Flagstaff, and Justin Hamel White and his wife, Tammie; daughter, Megan Emily, of Apple Valley, Calif.; as well as his cousins Leslie, Jennifer and Emily and families.

A memorial celebration of life took place May 9, 2005, at the Whites' hangar just north of the main entrance of Glacier Park International Airport. Turn west at Rocky Mountain Avionics.
