Student of the week

Robert Neise, a senior at Columbia Falls High School has been selected student of the week, May 16. He was nominated because he is dependable and helpful. The school faculty and staff make nominations for student of the week. Robert is the son of Richard and Sherry Neise of Columbia Falls and receives a personal pan pizza compliment of Pizza Hut.

Dem women

The Flathead County Democratic Women will meet Monday, May 23, at 12 noon for a no host luncheon at the West Coast Center Mall in Ballroom B. Parking in the back lot is adjacent to the meeting site. All interested parties are welcome. For further information contact Pauline at 257-4452.

File update

The Columbia Falls School District Special Education Program is in the process of eliminating outdated files. Please call Jan Graham at 892-6562 if you or your child would like records meeting the following criteria: Attended Columbia Falls School District; have a birth date during 1981; and were enrolled in the special education program. Any records that are not claimed by June 1 will be destroyed.

Glacier fund-raiser

The second annual gala fund-raiser event "Spring for Glacier" is Friday, May 27 at Lake McDonald Lodge. A limited number of tickets are available, at $150 per person or $250 per couple. All tickets must be purchased in advance through the Glacier Natural History Association at (406) 888-5756. Event raises funds for non-profits that benefit the park.

O-Mok-See

The first Western Division O-Mok-See of the season is Saturday and Sunday at the Saddle Club on Highway 2. Games start at 11 a.m. on Saturday. Smith Valley games start at 10 a.m. on Sunday. There is no charge to watch. For more info, call Rene Caverly at 837-4144.

Drivers ed

No written or drive tests will be available from May 23 to May 27 because examiners are in training. The offices will be open from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but closed noon to 1 p.m. for lunch. Normal hours return May 31.

Awards night

Columbia Falls High School will hold its annual awards night ceremony at 7 p.m. May 25 at the High School Little Theater.

Gold Prospectors

The Northwest Montana Gold Prospectors will have their annual spring kick-off at 10 a.m. May 21. There will be demonstrations, potluck dinner and other games at the event. Watch for balloons making the way in Columbia Heights off Berne Road.

TCF meets

The Flathead Valley Chapter of Compassionate Friends meets at 7:30 p.m. May 26 at the Summit for a memorial remembrance time. Friends is a self-help organization for bereaved parents.

Jazz Cafe

The Columbians will hold their Jazz Cafe Friday at 7 p.m. at the High School. Come and listen to some great jazz tunes.
