Land use meeting
The Middle Canyon area land use regulatory system will have a neighborhood meeting from 7 to 8:30 p.m. May 31 at the Community Building in Glacier National Park headquarters. Topic of the meeting is the Flathead County Growth Policy and your neighborhood plan. If folks want more information, call 888-5465.
Lewis and Clark
Canyon Elementary will put on the musical Lewis and Clark at 2 p.m. Friday at the school.
Last day of school
The last day of school for Columbia Falls is Friday, June 10. Schools will be dismissed as follows: CF High School at 11:30; Canyon Elementary at 11:30; Glacier Gateway Elementary at 11:30; CF Junior High at 11:40; Ruder Elementary at 11:45. School lunch will be a bagged lunch and buses will run.
Morrison speaks
State Auditor John Morrsion will speak at the dedication of the new veterans memorial at Marantette Park May 30 beginning at 1 p.m. Morrison is also challenging Sen. Conrad Burns in the 2006 election.
Graduation
Columbia Falls High School graduation is June 4 at 11 a.m. at the high school gymnasium.
1960 Reunion
The Columbia Falls Class of 1960 is planning a potluck picnic July 30 after the Heritage Days Parade. Picnic is at the Birch Grove Community Center. Call Barb Grilley at 892-4907, Carole Bell at 892-3311 or Doug Knapton at 892-0504 for more information.
Dam opens
The Hungry Horse Dam visitor center opens May 31 for the 2005 summer tourist season. The dam will feature a new virtual tour of the facility that shows the inside workings of the dam. Because of national security concerns, tours inside the structure itself are no longer offered. Guided tours outside the dam will are from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. seven days a week.
Glacier fund-raiser
The second annual gala fund-raiser event "Spring for Glacier" is Friday, May 27 at Lake McDonald Lodge. A limited number of tickets are available, at $150 per person or $250 per couple. All tickets must be purchased in advance through the Glacier Natural History Association at (406) 888-5756. Event raises funds for non-profits that benefit the park.
Visitor center opens
The Columbia Falls Chamber of Commerce Visitor Center, located across the street from Marantette Park, opens May 31 and will stay open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Planners sought
The Columbia Falls City-County planning board is looking for a county representative on the board who lives in the planning area, but outside the city limits. Those interested should write a letter of qualification to Mary Sevier, Flathead County Planning and Zoning, 1035 First Ave. West, Kalispell, MT 59901.
Vets meet
Disabled American Vets meet at 6:30 p.m. at the VFW in Kalispell June 1.
