Jazz stampede

Reduced all event badges for the 12th annual Glacier Jazz Stampede are available until Oct. 1 for $55. After that badges will be sold for $60. Badges admit purchasers to all events at the Stampede, which takes place Oct. 6 to 9 in Kalispell.

Bands and musicians participating include Titanic, Black Swan , Blue Street, CANS, Big Mama Sue's follies, Uptown Lowdown, Last Chance, Desperation, Wild Rose, Montana Lite, Don Lawrence Orchestra, Flathead Ragtime Society Orchestra, Rocky Mountain Rhythm Kings, Arnie Carruthers, Rod Biensen and Frank Kuntz.

Stampede is sponsored by the Flathead Valley Jazz Society. Co-chairmen of the event are Gary Fischer and John Van.

Jazz concert

The Company Brass will pay for the Flathead Valley Jazz Society party Sunday, 4 until 7 p.m., at the Kalispell Eagles Club. The orchestra has been playing at the Bigfork Inn for the past 23 years. Paid Jazz Society members get in free and non-members will pay $5 admission, according to John Van, president.

Chamber meets

The Columbia Falls Chamber of Commerce has its first meeting of the fall at 11:30 a.m. at the North Valley Community Building Sept. 13. Come and meet the new teachers at School District 6. Lunch is $8, includes tip.

Antique engines

The annual antique engine and tractor show and threshing bee is Sept. 10 and 11 at Olsen Pioneer Park off Pioneer Road.

CASA volunteers

Speak up for abused and neglected children in court by becoming a CASA volunteer. For an application, or to find out more information, call CASA for Kids, 755-7208. Applications are needed by Sept. 20 to qualify you for our fall training.

Chamber BBQ, golf

The Chamber barbecue and Golf Scramble is Sept. 11 in West Glacier at the Glacier View Golf Course. At 2 p.m. is the golf scramble. Anyone can play. Cost is $12 per person. Call Crystal - Edward Jones Investments: 892-7283 to sign up. At 4 p.m. is a steak or chicken dinner with all the trimmings, $12. Members who want to donate door prizes call 892-2072 or 892-7283.

Noble graduates

Air Force Airman Jessica L. Noble has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio. Airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force. Noble is the daughter of Scott Noble of Libby and Jane Noble of Columbia Falls.
