I am on a Rocky Mountain high because of Walt Sayre's "Looking Back" column.

My brothers, Joe and Willy Bucariza, purchased a subscription to the Whitefish Pilot for me because they know I have a sentimental attachment for my hometown. So in the June 16 issue, there was an article about a Filipino employee of the Great Northern who purchased and shipped a Victor Orthoponic phonograph to his mom in the Philippines in 1929 and I wondered if it could possibly be our father.

I wrote Mr. Sayre on Aug. 8 and asked if he could research further and come up with a name, and I was so pleased and surprised when he called me on Aug. 29 to confirm it was my father, Vanancio Bucariza.

I was so excited I think I forgot to thank him for this wonderful connection to the past, and I would like to let Mr. Sayre know how happy and grateful I am for his thoughtful effort. I am also looking forward to reading his book.
