Thanks to the Sheriff's Department

| August 17, 2006 11:00 PM

During one of the recent violent wind and thunder storms, my family, consisting of myself, my husband and our two dogs, found ourselves, if not literally, definitely figuratively in deep water.

Albeit this was a very unpleasant experience for us, it served as a reminder of the wonderful community in which we live, and showed us the excellence of the Flathead County Sheriff's Department.

We were camped on Elk Island in the Hungry Horse Reservoir when our boat was dislodged by the violent waves brought by the storm and beached on the rocky shore. As our boat weighs some 4,500 pounds, needless to say, my husband and I were unable to "rock the boat" and get it into the water again by ourselves.

We contacted the sheriff's department at 7.45 a.m., and at 9.15 a.m. deputies Dave Leib and Paul Lebert arrived at the island. Within 15 minutes, the boat was safely in the water again.

The deputies knew exactly what to do and did it without fuss and with friendly smiles — and with remarkable speed. Never had we expected such fast service.

We wish to extend our heartfelt "thanks" again to the two deputies and to the entire Flathead County Sheriff's Department for services rendered above and beyond the call of duty.
