Kenneth William "Ted" Young, 88, passed away at his home on Dec. 12. He was born on June 3, 1918 to Hollis and Ethel Young in Chinook, Montana.

As a young man, Kenneth was active in the Boy Scouts and attained the rank of Eagle. He attended college in Havre, Montana and received his degree from the University of Illinois. He took an engineering position with Delco Remy in Anderson, Indiana and it was there that he met his future wife, Ruth Harriet. Kenneth was a veteran of WWII, having served with the U.S. Navy.

While living in Anderson, Kenneth was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church. He generously volunteered his time to various organizations including Community Hospital and The Harter House. In 1964, he and his family opened their home to Inga (Sigurdardottir) Sandberg their church sponsored foreign exchange student from Iceland.

Kenneth retired from Delco Remy in 1975. In 1991, he and Ruth Harriet moved permanently to Bigfork. Their church family became the members of the First Baptist Church in Bigfork.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents in 1971, his wife in 2005, and his brother in 2001. He is survived by two daughters: Katherine Fluegel and husband Michael of Zion, Illinois; and Barbara Presley and husband Russell of Bigfork, Montana; five grandchildren: Kim Mitchell and husband Jorge Ucan, Brian Presley and wife Becca, Eric Fluegel and fiancee' Jessica Stebbins, Andrew Fluegel and Melissa Winters; eight great grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, five nieces and nephews, and numerous special friends.

A memorial service to celebrate the lives of Kenneth and Ruth Harriet Young will be held at a later date. The family suggests that memorial gifts in Kenneth's name be sent to the Charity of the donor's choice.
