The Columbia Falls girls basketball team lost a close one to top ranked Bigfork Thursday but came back to thump Ronan Saturday 55-21 to start their conference season at 1-1.

The Kats played well against the Vals, but Bigfork's Hattie Bowen hit a trey with nine seconds remaining to break a 41-41 tie.

Leading the scoring against the Vals was Jessica Boyer with nine, Callie Spencer had seven, Amber Lampman two, Mary Nolan six, Alyssa Ladenburg eight, Beth Karper seven, Sam Ladenburg two.

Against Ronan, the Kats took the hapless Maidens to task early, jumping out to a 21-6 lead. Ronan, meanwhile, never scored more than seven points in any one quarter and only had one point in the fourth.
