Irrigation problems

| January 19, 2006 11:00 PM

I have received numerous phone calls in the past month wondering on the status of the Whitefish High School gym floor.

With the weather the way it has been in the past couple weeks, higher temperatures and much moisture, there is no apparent problem at all with the floor.

There is still a question in the minds of many concerning why this happened, and at this point, based on all of my information from a qualified engineer and local contractor expertise, I am convinced that our problems were directly a result of poor irrigation procedures and poor monitoring of the irrigation around this campus.

We have never irrigated in this fashion and so heavily prior to this past summer. Since this campus was constructed more than 20 years ago, there have never been any problems either.

Though it was constructed on a "damp and moist" site, we have never experienced any problems at all. We tested extensively for domestic leakage and came up with zero.

This means that we will monitor our irrigation procedures very closely and keep a watchful eye on this floor in the future. Thank you all for your help, your concern and your input.
