As a plebe, better get used to it

The Yoom Yoogle Snook-Wild Beastie Book
Cold sober! A few years back I woke in the night with a poem running through my brain. It wouldn't go away. Finally had to get up and write it down to get some sleep. Upon arising, more little poems came out and I picked photos to go with each. Nothing has happened since but daughter Wendy is hounding me to put them in a book. Probably will, but in the meantime here are samples to read to small children and husbands.
A new attraction
Regarding John Baker's letter to the Pilot, "Whitefish needs a new attraction," I think that you are brilliant, funny and facetious.

Whitefish needs a new attraction
I think too much attention is paid to the existing attractions of the Whitefish area. But to really attract a lot of tourists, a place needs something that people have a reason to visit to see.

A fence or an ambulance?
The Highline Trail to Granite Park was opened June 19th this year and this is the first time in quite awhile the "Over the Hill Gang" didn't dig it out. That trail may be the finest mountain hike in America…or even the world, but it can be a bit scary at Oberlin Bend where the snow really builds up over the winter. To make things easier for opening the trail each spring the Park Service usually blasts the worst of that snow away before shovelers are sent in to clear the footpath. They did that this year.

Getting Unstressed
It is time for another column, and I couldn't come up with anything last night. Maybe I've got stress. I must have stress. That's about all a person can read about nowadays. The way it seems to work out, rich folks go to psychiatrists, government employees get free stress clinics, and regular folk drink a lot of beer.

Artists have to work for a living, too
The North Valley Hospital recently ran an ad requesting local artists to donate artwork for their new facility. As a local visual artist, I am writing in response to that ad. Don't let the Chinese beat us
An important lesson I learned while in China recently is that while the Chinese have not embraced freedom, they have certainly wrapped their arms around free enterprise.
