For the Hungry Horse News

The Glacier Twins' AA woes continued as they were outscored 46-6 during a pair of games against the Missoula Mavericks last weekend.

In Friday's game, Missoula pitcher Cody Burgmeister pitched a one-hitter during the Mavericks' 22-0 win over the Twins. The game ended after the seventh inning due to the 10-run rule.

On Saturday, Missoula ran away with the game by stealing 11 bases during the Maverick's 24-6 win over the Twins. Mav's player Mac Kirk stole four bases while Johnson, Dwyer, Belet and Bartenhagen had two apiece. Most of the stolen bases came in the sixth inning, which seemed to never end for the Twins. The Mavericks scored eight runs in the sixth, stealing at will while the Twins committed a string of their 11 total errors.

The Glacier Twins AA team kicked off the Sapa-Johnsrud on Tuesday night against the Spokane, Wash. Blue Devils and played the Calgary, Alberta Blues on Wednesday afternoon. Results for those games weren't available as of presstime. The Twins play the Williston, N.D Keybirds at 8 p.m. at Memorial Field in Whitefish Thursday. On Friday, the Twins play the Blues again at 5:15 p.m. at Memorial Field. Also on Friday, the teams will compete in a skills contest/home-run derby at 8:30 p.m.

The tournament playoffs start on Saturday, with the top point winners from the American and National Division round robins competing against each other. The fourth place teams from each division play at 10 a.m., third place at 1 p.m., second place at 4 p.m., and bracket leaders compete for the championship at 7 p.m. All playoff games are at Memorial Field. On Monday, the Twins head to Great Falls for a doubleheader against the Stallions and then play their last away game of the season against the Kalispell Lakers on Tuesday. The Twins finish off the season with a five-game home stretch.

Last week the A team didn't fare much better.

They lost to the Kootenai Valley Rangers 15-1, 12-5, then to Sanders County, 7-6, but beat them 11-6. Then Mission Valley beat them 12-2 and 8-3.

Ouch.
