Mr. Personality

| July 26, 2006 11:00 PM

On a hot night July 12 at nearly 10 p.m., Harry Sutley, of the "Ranch For Kids" respite care facility in Eureka, and four teenagers were stranded in downtown Whitefish with a loaded flatbed hay trailer with two flat tires after running over a utility knife in the highway.

He was desperate to get some help so he could get back to Eureka. I took Harry out to Don Carlson's home with an obvious plea for help.

Carlson came back down to his sweltering tire shop late that night and repaired the damage. He wished the man a safe trip, refusing to take any payment, with the usual comment, "I'll catch you next time."

Whitefish is fortunate over the years to have many generous merchants and service people, including Carlson's Alignment Muffler and Tire Center.

Don Carlson (known by many as "Mr. Personality") deserves recognition for this great service and good will toward strangers.

Harry and his four passengers and a big load of hay made it back home that night, thanks to Don Carlson.
