The Yoom Yoogle Snook-Wild Beastie Book

Cold sober! A few years back I woke in the night with a poem running through my brain. It wouldn't go away. Finally had to get up and write it down to get some sleep. Upon arising, more little poems came out and I picked photos to go with each. Nothing has happened since but daughter Wendy is hounding me to put them in a book. Probably will, but in the meantime here are samples to read to small children and husbands.

(Note: This is the first poem that woke me in the night)

Grizzly Bear

Fleegle fleegle flottom, there's a grizzly bear's bottom.

He can't get wild honey for free or for money.

So he takes it from the bees, neath the logs and in the trees.

While they sting him on the elbows, on the hindy and both knees.

Fleegle fleegle flottom. Oh! The poor bear's bottom.

Whitetail Fawn

Yang-gee yang-gee yeckles, why does that fawn have freckles?

Perhaps he has the measles or the chicken pox with spleasles.

No! That's not the reason. It's the baby hiding season.

When he naps down in the bushes and doesn't move a hair.

Nothing big can find him, not a coyote, lion, or bear.

Yang-gee yang-gee yeckles, that's why the fawn has freckles.

The Wolf

Flibbering thru the fleeby tulf, trots a wily lobo wolf.

Something he can't understand, where the heck's the burger stand?

Care not I for cake and tea. Fries and shakes are not for me.

Never ate Red Riding Hood, or that Grandma with her snood.

After dining on some mice, howling at the moon is nice.

Flibbering thru the fleeby tulf, trots a wily lobo wolf.

Cow Moose

Kershomp Kershomp she came at night. Out of woods where skeeters bite.

Visiting the village just to eat, something yummy along each street.

On 2nd street one lady 'rose, to see in her window a giant nose.

"Police police! Come remove this beast." They asked what could it be?

"Heaven knows, well oh dear me! It's the ugliest horse I ever did see."

Kershomp Kershomp she left at night. Back in the woods, a beautiful sight.

Coyote

A splinky splooper prowler and a hinky hooper howler.

Only one critter this could be. Betcher boots-a coyoteee.

Raises furry pups in home dug holes. Feeds 'em on rabbits and fuzzy voles.

They travel in small packs, with no toothpaste, hats, or sacks.

And catch some crunchy crickets, for in-between time snacks.

A splinky splooper prowler and a hinky hooper howler.

Pronghorn Antelope

Varoom Varoom Oh Darnie Boom, give that antelope running room.

He enters animal racing meets, "cause every beast he really beats."

He could outrun the fastest cheetah, even if the cheetah cheated.

He signals is band with white rump hair. The flash is seen for miles.

His eyes are like binoculars, that's why the pronghorn smiles.

Varoom Varoom Oh Darnie Boom, give that antelope running room.

Mule Deer

Yoom yock yahooey, see the colors all so chewy.

Muleys eat a lot of flowers, then chomp 'em by the hours.

Doesn't matter red or blue, yellow's also good to chew.

When you see some hungry deers, wearing big humongous ears,

Tell 'em yoom yock yahooey, see the colors all so chewy.

Buffalo

Bonkity bonkity toro toes, huge humpy bumpy old buffalos.

They bellow and roar and some of 'em snore.

They roll in the dust to remove flies and crust.

Then guzzle the grass, 'til they darn near bust.

Bonkity bonkity toro toes, huge humpy bumpy old buffaloes.
