Glacier Park plowing crews have made it through the Big Drift on the Going-to-the-Sun Highway and are now down to bare pavement, said Dave Dahlen, Park Chief of Interpretation on Tuesday.
They were widening the drift as of presstime. The Park wasn't making any predictions as to when the road over the pass would open, but it appears it will be days, rather than weeks.
Crews are also clearing the Logan Pass parking lot and putting up guardrails on sections of the road. A big rock damaged one guardrail anchor at Triple Arches and that needs to be fixed. Contract crews are also working on scaling rock at the West Side Tunnel and the East Side Tunnel, will likely be single lane traffic due to a slump that needs to be fixed there.
