Burns represents "Montana values"

| November 1, 2006 11:00 PM

One has to wonder what "Montana values" are being described in the recent ads from Tester and the governor. Is it the value of ridiculing a Christian legislator in Bozeman recently because of his Christian beliefs? (See Inter Lake editorial 10/15/06) Or is it the lack of concern for the traditional Christian values that Montanans generally embrace. How can these two men tout "Montana values" with a straight face?

Mr. Tester's record on traditional values seems to be blurred by his absence in the legislative body when votes on these issues emerged. Coincidentally absent on these votes appears that he was "absent without leave."

I understand Mr. Tester supports abortions on demand, partial-birth abortion, and tax funding the same. In addition he supports embryonic stem cell research. He was conveniently absent or voted negatively in the legislature on same sex marriage, and the sanctity of marriage. Do these really represent the Montana values that he touts on his campaign ads?

A stark difference with our Senator Burns who has a long record of supporting protection for the unborn, opposing abortion on demand, opposing partial-birth abortions, and the use of federal dollars for such. Senator Burns has supported umbilical cord and adult stem cell research, which preserves the sanctity of the unborn.

For my money, Senator Burns represents Montanans on these issues and remains unafraid to vote for Montana values. It is plain that we lose our "moral values" without Senator Burns.
