Irene Knapton

Irene Knapton passed away Sept. 29, 2006, at the age of 85.

She was born Sept. 11, 1921, in North Dakota, the daughter of William and Margaret Voigt.

Irene attended school in Columbia Falls and Whitefish. She lived in Whitefish since 1936. She was a member of the St. Charles Catholic Church, in Whitefish.

She married Marvin R. Knapton in 1941 in Whitefish. They moved to Florence, Ore., after Marvin retired in 1979.

Irene was a homemaker and she enjoyed oil painting, baking, crocheting and fishing.

She is survived by her children Jean Sedivy, Patti Sanderson, Mary Knapton and Bill Knapton; her sister Dorothy Voerman; sister-in-law Merle Voigt; nine grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.

A mass was held in Florence, Ore., and a memorial will be held at a future date.

Graveside services for Matthew Paul Scotten will be held at the Highland Cemetery in Great Falls on Saturday, Oct. 14, at 2 p.m. Scotten, 49, passed away May 18, 2006, at his home in Whitefish.
