A Columbia Falls landmark will hit the auction block next Saturday. The home of Linc France and most the items inside will be auctioned off starting at 10 a.m. Oct. 21.

France died Aug. 21, 2005.

He was well-known for his community service as well as his letters to the editor to the Hungry Horse News.

France almost always spoke before Columbia Falls City Council meetings as well - usually reading a short note or telling a joke.

France moved to Columbia Falls in 1965 and his automotive shop at the corner of South Nucleus and U.S. Highway 2 became a landmark. The building was formerly a train depot before it was moved in the 1950s.

The auction includes several vintage France vehicles, including a 1949 mint Chevy pickup truck, several other cars, a boat, and the property itself, which is now prime real estate.
