Dirty campaign

| October 18, 2006 11:00 PM

The one-page flyer in my mail Sept. 25 stated, "Violent sexual predators are out there." The flip side stated that "Jon Tester failed."

Well, there you have it — we are not supposed to vote for Jon Tester in the U.S. Senate race because all liberal thinkers must not care about sexual predators.

How preposterous. But that is the message not so subtly made by our Montana Republican state central committee. Not mentioned in the message but very obvious to just about all is this, that "I am Conrad Burns and I approve of this message."

What a terrible thing for Burns and his committee to say about Jon Tester, an honorable Montanan running for public office.

This type of negative campaign message must be the result of a desperate man and political party that will say and do anything to get a vote. I suspect that many loyal Republicans and old cronies of Burns must be disappointed (again) in this negative message and what it says about the character of the committee members and especially about Burns himself.

Regardless of party affiliations, I hope that this letter is a reminder to all readers to vote for John Tester and against a desperate and foolish politician who continues to make poor decisions.
