O'Neil will deliver justice

| October 25, 2006 11:00 PM

The news media has recently reported problems with collections of fines in the Flathead County Justice Court. There is more. There are sometimes long delays in decisions being handed down. I have knowledge of several such cases awaiting decisions, one dating from 2001. I do not know the reasons such long delays nor will I speculate, but the public is not being well served. Changes are needed. A part of the solution might lie in one of the candidates running for that office, Jerry O'Neil.

I have known Jerry for more than sixty years. That's a long time and sufficient enough to learn his values and qualities. Jerry is a very modest person, one who does not think himself to be anything other than an ordinary man. He is far from ordinary. Jerry is a tireless worker. With a task before him he just puts his head down and his elbows up and puts all his effort into it. He continues with that total effort until the task is complete. He is also an extremely patriotic man, one who believes very deeply and strongly in the individual rights we all hold dear. He has a keen sense of justice and fair play, believing that every person, is entitled to be treated equally regardless of race, religion, ethnic background or social standing. I have watched him over many years, fighting uphill battles for justice within a legal system that doesn't always deliver that justice. He will put that same effort forth as a judge for the citizens of Flathead County.

There is no other person better qualified to be a judge in the Justice Court system than Jerry O'Neil. If elected, I know that he will work tirelessly to deliver justice honestly and fairly for every person who might appear before him. No one can ask any more than that.
