| December 27, 2007 11:00 PM

JoAnn Welles, 80, passed away peacefully in her home in Whitefish on Dec. 17, 2007.

Jo was born in Beloit, Wis., on Feb. 8, 1927, where she lived most of her life. In 1994, she moved to Whitefish to be with her son, John Holt, and she was soon followed by her daughter, Ann Wood.

Jo enjoyed her volunteer work with various organizations, including Habitat for Humanity, the Mash Bash, the Spring Fling and her latest involvement with the gift shop at North Valley Hospital.

She loved her family, pets, her many good friends and especially her Monday "Stitch and Bitch" get-togethers. She had many interests, including environmental issues, politics, home design, gardening, being outdoors and travel. Jo will be remembered, with love, for her buoyant spirit, big heart, great sense of humor and generosity.

She is survived by her son, John Holt and wife Ginny; her daughter Anne Wood and husband Jim; and stepdaughter Barbara Welles Rasmussen. She also leaves behind her beloved pets Bubba, Maggie and Sammy.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
