Memories better than shares

| February 8, 2007 11:00 PM

There is a lot to be said about the ending of our Winter Sports, Inc. dream and about the spirit that was taken from the true beneficiaries of Big Mountain.

I feel that this is a tragedy in the lives of Whitefish locals and Flathead Valley natives.

What sort of message does this send to the genuine people who put their heart and soul into that escort? What sort of attitude descends over the rightful sons and daughters of that mountain?

I am the great granddaughter of Brad Seely, the granddaughter of Dick and Jane Solberg, the niece of Tina Gemignani and the daughter of Jenanne Solberg.

They nourish the town of Whitefish as well as the resort at Big Mountain, and they promote the values that are vital to the daily lives of each person.

My name is Claire Willis, and I, like many others, was ousted from the select group of shareholders in Winter Sports, Inc.

As far as I am concerned, Fortune 500 corporate Ameri-cans can have the shares, if that is important to them.

It doesn't matter how much money they make on it — they will never benefit from that mountain as much as my family did.
