The Wave Ryder Swim Club started the summer at the Summer Solstice swim meet in Spokane, Wash., June 22.

Seven Wave Ryder swimmers competed at the meet, four from Bigfork — Joseph, Jessica, Joshua and Jordan Loyda.

The only girl competing, Jessica swam in six events and recorded personal bests in four of them. Loyda shaved almost five seconds off of her 50 free time, 18.48 seconds off her 200 free and more than 30 seconds off her 100 breast. Her final personal best was in the 200 IM, in which she finished in a time of 4:12.64. Loyda placed second in both the 50 free and fly, and third in the 100 breast and 200 IM.

Joseph Loyda had personal bests in both of his two events — the 50 free and 100 back. He finished the free in 59.92 seconds and the back in 3:05.91. He knocked nearly six seconds off of his 50 free time.

Both Jordan and Joshua Loyda competed in eight events. Jordan finished the meet with three first place finishes. He won the 400 free in a time of 5:50.79, which was a personal best for him. He also won the 200 free and 200 IM, recording personal bests in both of those events as well. Joshua recorded three personal bests at the meet. He finished the 100 breast almost four seconds faster than his previous best with a time of 1:55.75 and also had personal bests in the 1500 free and 200 breast. He finished the 1500 free in 23:30.00 and third place, and the 200 breast in 4:02.05 and second place. His times in the 1500 free and 200 breast were 35.95 seconds and 19.95 seconds faster than his previous bests, respectively.
