Glacier Twins AA off to good start in tournament

Something lit a fire under the Glacier Twins AA team in their opening game of the Sapa-Johnsrud Memorial Tournament on Tuesday night.
Down 7-9 against the Black Hills Lobos at Memorial Field in Whitefish, Justin Collom and Roo Grubb both hit two-run homers to center field in the bottom of the sixth inning, and the Twins rallied back to win the game 13-9.
Before the sixth inning, Twins coach Jarod Grubb told his team, "Now's the time to get something going."
And get something going they did. Collom's bomb came on an 0-1 pitch and scored runner Brad Bell to tie the game at nine apiece. The Twins bench erupted in cheers.
Coach Grubb must have inspired his brother Roo because three batters later, Grubb delivered a rocket just over the wall and scored Brad Nielsen from third to win the game.
Collom was named player of the game after the game ended in the seventh due to time constraints.
RJ Beasley earned the win on the mound, holding the Lobos scoreless for 1 2/3 innings in relief pitching.
Justin Goode led the Twins with three RBIs, three hits and a sacrifice fly. The Twins out hit the Lobos 13-8.
The win starts the Twins off 1-0 in the Class AA Legion baseball tournament, which runs through July 15. They face the Apple Valley Packers, of Wenatchee, Wash., on July 11 at 8 p.m. The Lobos take on Gonzaga Prep on July 12 at 9 a.m.
