Mary Wolf Rolfing Bogue

Mary Wolf Rolfing Bogue died on June 14, 2007, at Brendan House in Kalispell, Mont., at age 84.

She was born in Chicago, Illinois, attended New Trier High School and Northwestern University, was a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University, and lived for many years in Wilmette, DeKalb and Glenview, Ill.

She resided in Pebble Beach, California, since 1972 and also in her beloved Bigfork, Montana, since 1991 where she enjoyed her children and grandchildren, and "making countless cookies for the countryside," as she liked to say.

Mary-Mom, as she was affectionately called, is survived by her three sons and their wives: Mark and Debi Rolfing of Kapalua, Maui, Hawaii, and Swan Lake, Montana; Steve and Sue Rolfing of Columbia Falls, Montana; Pete and Tammy Rolfing of Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii; and her three grand-children: Kate Grenier and husband Eddie of Portland, Oregon; Jamie Rolfing of Columbia Falls, Montana; Hannelore Rolfing of Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii; and her devoted assistant and friend, Pat Russell of Monterey, California.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, James E. Rolfing, and her second husband, Verle D. Bogue.

Mary-Mom's friends and family will celebrate her life at an open house reception at one of her favorite places, the Somers Bay Cafe, on Sunday, July 22 from 5 to 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests tax-deductible gifts to the Mary Rolfing Bogue Memorial Fund c/o Flathead Community Foundation, P.O. Box 1422, Kalispell, Montana 59903 for charitable distribution as advised by the family, or to other charities.

Lillian Risdal Ramsfield Bailey

Lillian Risdal Ramsfield Bailey, 83, passed away Tuesday, July 10 at Brendan House after a 4 1/2 year battle with lung cancer.

She was born June 6, 1924 in Sidney, Mont. to George and Gustava Risdal. The family moved to the lower Flathead Valley in 1938, and she graduated from Flathead County High School in 1942.

Lillian married Eddie Ramsfield in Merced, California in 1943. They returned to Montana in 1946, and purchased a dairy farm in Ferndale. In 2006 she moved to Buffalo Hill Terrace in Kalispell and married Nebb Bailey in 1978.

Lillian worked for many years at the Bigfork Drug Store and also at Sliters Hardware in Bigfork.

She was a long-time member of the Ferndale Sewing Circle and Bethany Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School. Singing was another passion of Lillians.

Her parents, hustands Eddie Ramsfield and Nebb Bailey, siblings Jorgen Thorvald, Olav, and Esther Risdal, and Thelma Bollinger, preceded her in death.

She is survived by her children, Beverly Ostroot of Bigfork, Carolyn Abel of Colorado Springs, and Ron Ramsfield of Bozeman, sister Agnes Lee of Kalispell, brothers George Risdal of West Monroe, Louisiana, and Ralph Risdal of Sammamish, Washington, numerous grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Howard Day

On Sunday July 8, 2007 Howard achieved his eternal home in our Lord's Kingdom. Howard was born to Willis and Marie Day on December 13, 1925 in Jersey City, New Jersey. Howard was raised in Garrison, MT by his father Willy Day.

Howard spent many hours riding the pusher engines to the top of McDonald Pass and back to Garrison. He always had a life long fascination with the steam locomotives.

He enlisted in the Navy in 1943, and was stationed on the USS Boxwood, a net tender in the Aleutians Islands in the Bearing Sea for the remainder of the war.

He met and married the Love of his life, Regina (Jean) Hansen in 1953. They had 54 wonderful years together throughout these years. They lived in various locations around Montana and returned to Bigfork in 1983, where Howard and Jean settled on the Swan River and later moved into the Village of Bigfork.

Howard was a simple unassuming man who passed away surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren at his home.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Jean Day at the family home, eldest son and wife, Daniel Day and Ellette Day of Bigfork, daughter and husband Janice Gordon and Scott Gordon of Scottsdale, Az, youngest son Michael Day of Helena, Mt and numerous grandchildren.

Memorial donations can be made to the Howard Day Indian Youth Camp Scholarship Fund, this fund provides scholarships to help Native American Children attend Christian Camp.
