William Haw
William "Bill" T. Haw, 75, of Whitefish, passed away Sept. 24, 2007, at the Brendan House extended-care facility in Kalispell.
He was born and raised in Detroit and attended Michigan State University, with doctorate work at Wayne State University.
Bill retired from an extensive career including work as the curator of birds at the Detroit Zoo, teacher/guidance counselor at Browning High School, founder/director of the Browning Free School, director of the Indian Education Program for Flathead Valley Community College, dean of rural education for the University of Alaska, and owner of Noah's Bark Pet Center in Kalispell.
He was an avid reader, photographer and animal lover. Throughout the years, he trained a number of bloodhounds for search and rescue. He had a love affair with Glacier National Park and loved to photograph the beauty he saw there.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ella Haw, and his daughter, Wendy Haw.
He is survived by his wife, Lynn Haw, of Whitefish; daughter and son-in-law Kristin Laird and Ian, of Bozeman; grandson Camden Laird, of Bozeman; daughter Kelly Haw, of Whitefish; and sister Mollie Bartlett, of Altamonte Springs, Fla.
A celebration of life for Bill will take place at the Moose Lodge in Whitefish on Oct. 27, 2007, at 2 p.m. Bill was cremated and his ashes will be spread at a later date in Glacier National Park.
