Do we need pole dancing?

| September 6, 2007 11:00 PM

What are we thinking?

I don’t know about all of you, but it saddens me on a weekly basis to read the police log. Not a week goes by that I don’t read about our sons and daughters being arrested up town for assaults, disorderly conduct, obstructing justice, and drunk and disorderly.

Do we really feel that adding pole dancing to a drinking establishment in our downtown area, and you know who you are, is a responsible move on your part?

I’m not a prude, but I have raised four grown sons and four daughters. I know that males plus alcohol plus pole dancing young women equals a volatile situation at best.

I’m not going to show discrimination in this matter. How many fathers, boyfriends or brothers want to find out the young women in their lives are that intoxicated that they would be doing the dancing?

There are places in the big cities that run establishments to take care of the good old boys and girl needs for this kind of entertainment. They are paid professionals, not our sons and daughters.

Please, re-evaluate the true need to offer this kind of provocative entertainment at the expense of our communities well being. Let’s not set our young people up for failure.
