Marathon help

The Two Bear Marathon is set for Sunday, Sept. 16 in Whitefish and volunteers are needed for aide stations. Volunteers will work two- to three-hour shifts starting at 6 a.m.

They will be responsible for setting up a table, handing out water and snacks as well as cheering on the runners.

All entry fees go directly to the Wave Scholarship Fund, which provides reduced membership dues to individuals and families in financial need.

There will be a barbecue for everyone involved in the Two Bear Marathon after the event.

Library board

Teens who love the library are invited to share their ideas for improving it by participating in the Flathead County Library's Teen Advisory Board.

The first meeting of the school year will be at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 20 at the main library in Kalispell. Pizza will be served. No registration required, but come with ideas for teen events as well as new books, music and movies for the library.

Fiddler's Jam

An Old Time Fiddler's Jam Session and Community Dance is set for Sunday, Sept. 16 at the Lake Mary Ronan Lodge & Resort. The event runs from 2 to 6 p.m. There is free admission for dancing or listening.

Citizenship class

Literacy Volunteers of Flathead County is hosting free U.S. citizenship classes during a nine-week period this fall.

The classes are on Wednesdays from 6 to 8 p.m. from Sept. 12 through Nov. 14. They will be at Literacy Volunteers, 35 4th St. W. in Kalispell. For more information, call 257-7323.

Farmers' Market

The Whitefish Downtown Farmers' Market will feature Mike Casey and Alex Hagle and Friends at the Tuesday, Sept. 18 market. The summer's bounty of locally-grown produce, fresh flowers, arts and crafts, food and beverage will provide a great way to spend a summer evening. The market is held at the north end of Central Avenue from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. You can also vote on your favorite poster for the 2008 market.

The regular Downtown Farmers' Markets will continue until Sept. 25 with a final fall market scheduled for Oct. 16.
